When you think of Wüsthof, I imagine the first thought that comes to mind are knives (unless of course you have an uncle of the same name). Since 1814, the German company has produced some of the highest-quality knives in the culinary industry; the most renowned being the Classic collection, and now the most sought after being the Classic IKON collection. Recently, at a Wüsthof event, I came across an odd addition to the companies repertoire: the Folding Gentleman’s Knife
As an avid outdoors man and a lover of everything picnic, I instantly gravitated toward the knife. When I asked the Wüsthof representative what the idea behind the knife was, she commented that “it’s designed for certain items you might bring on a picnic.” — this knife is for that, and much more.
Beautifully crafted, the handle of the knife is triple riveted and made of a combination of steel and blackwood. The 5″ blade, and 4″ handle help to create a perfect extension (of your arm) for slicing, filleting or peeling while on-the-go. The knife, like most of the Wüsthof collection, is forged from a single piece of high-carbon steel and weighs in at 2.8 ounces. It also comes with a handy-dandy carrying case.
The true versatility of the Wüsthof Folding Gentleman’s Knife was proven to me while on a recent outing – not only did it help to slice some salami and cheese, but it was the only knife I used to finalize the prep for everything that went on the BBQ. Although it fits easily into your pocket, it’s the only knife you’d need for creating a multi-course meal on the go. The knife is currently only available for sale through Willams-Sonoma.
If there are any questions, please don’t hesitate to post your queries here, we’ll be sure to follow-up with everyone… or get someone from Wüsthof to do so.

I love a good piece of kitchen hardware.. especially if it’s designed for ‘on-the-go’. Where can I get one if not by a Williams Sonoma?!

As a retired Executive Chef, the Gentleman’s folder is part of my every day carry. Form & function firing on all cylinders, as is the usual with Wusthof.
