The Point Resort — a private Adirondack estate, perched on a secluded corner of Saranac Lake — hosts a weekend to celebrate the truffle. Only a select few — 22 people, in fact — can lay their heads to rest each night at this rustic resort and participate in the gastronomic weekend that will unwrap the magical smells and tastes of the white truffle.
The weekend of January 8th, 2010, defines a white winter with a culinary twist — white truffles. That weekend, The Point will have a series of events to celebrate the truffle including a cooking class, an informative discussion on the mysterious “diamond of the kitchen,” a scavenger hunt and a seven-course black-tie event showcasing dishes made with both black and white truffles. That menu includes Black Truffle Custard with Cepe Broth and Crispy Pancetta, and Fontina Raviolis served with Oxtail Sauce and Shavings of White Truffle. At the bonfire Saturday night after dinner, guests will be served white truffle pizza and popcorn.
In addition, each guest will receive a truffle gift and a copy of “Au Revoir to All That: Food, Wine, and the End of France,” written by author and wine connoisseur Michael Steinberger. The weekend with lodging for the two nights – Friday, Jan. 8, and Saturday, Jan. 9 – all meals, unlimited beverages, amenities and activities costs $2,500 to $5,000 per couple, depending on room choice (tax and gratuity not included).
The Point is located six hours from Manhattan, three hours from Montreal, two-and-a-half hours from Burlington, Vermont, and three hours from Albany, New York.
The Point is a member of Relais & Châteaux, the prestigious international association of privately owned hotels and restaurants embodying the highest culinary standards and the French “art de vivre.”
