Our evening started with cocktails and apps at The Whelk that included friendly service and good food.

Some favorites include the smoked trout dip with dill, topped with trout roe and sourdough crisps ($18), hamachi crudo topped with jalapenos ($20) and fabulously rich maitake mushrooms with nduja (spicy, spreadable pork sausage from the Calabria) in garlic butter with an egg yolk ($21).

I’d recommend a visit to The Whelk.
