On a day trip to Nantucket, we headed out to picturesque Siasconset and had an alfresco lunch at what we learned to be the island’s only restaurant overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
We all opted for The Summer House Restaurant’s specialty cocktail, a refreshing blend a melon juices with citrus vodka, St Germain and a splash of soda. With no prices on listed on the cocktail menu, I had to ask our server the cost as the rest of the menu seemed a bit pricey. After all, we were on Nantucket. Those cocktails were $15 each.
Having seen the abundant meza platter served at other tables, we decided to share that among the four of us. The huge platter had three dips — roasted red peppers, hummus, tzatziki — served with toasted pita chips and grilled fresh pita ($22). Along with that we shared an heirloom red & yellow tomato and fresh basil caprese salad drizzled with balsamic and olive oil ($18). I’d recommend either.
One of our group ordered that fresh lobster Cobb, which looked inviting when it arrived with ribbons of lobster chunks, shredded iceberg lettuce and diced bacon, tomatoes and hard-cooked eggs topped with a fresh piece of avocado ($32). Unfortunately the lobster was effervescent, in other words past it’s prime. The waiter balked, but took it off the bill.
If you find yourself on Nantucket, I’d suggest the Summer House for a meal with a view.
