After attending an event in Roosevelt Park on the Upper West Side, my friend and I stopped at the Milling Room for a glass of wine and nibble.
The Tavern of The Milling offers some interesting wines by the glass. I sampled the Schloss Gobelsburg Austrian Riesling from Kamptal ($13), my friend the Italian Sartarelli “Travlivio” Verdicchio from Marche ($14).
I usually love salted shishito peppers but sadly the Milling Room’s version was a bit too oily to finish.
What I’d highly recommend is the grilled octopus ($16) served over charred eggplant, topped with arugula and drizzled with smoked paprika oil. A perfect blend of textures and flavors.
