On the south side of highway 27 along the Napeague strip, between Amagansett and Montauk, Long Island  is a roadside shack amid the sand dunes with a huge “LUNCH” sign.

Be sure to stop. At the Lobster Roll Restaurant, you’ll sit at umbrellaed picnic tables surrounded by gardens of colorful summer flowers and beach umbrellas.

Their “Classic” lobster roll ($20.95) is not to be missed. It comes with large chunks of the crustacean combined with celery and a tad a mayo and served in a top-loading frankfurter roll and a 1/4-pound of their housemade creamy and vinegary cole slaw. For $3 additional you’ll get crisp fries —  all with fast and friendly service. Don’t miss it.
