Having never been the the Old Stone House in Guilford, I looked forward to trying it for lunch.
I wasn’t disappointed — at least in the food.
Nancy — one of my friends — had been there many times before and insisted we get some onion rings while we perused the menu trying to decide what to order. Before we could disagree, she asked the waiter to bring us an order… They were as good as she had described.
The three of us nibbled the lightly battered thin wisps of onions while we continued our nonstop conversation. Good thing, as it was more than half an hour later our waiter finally appeared to take our lunch order.
By that time I was a bit full from eating too many of the yummy onion rings — so I switched from my first inclination of a Grilled American Kobe Burger with Caramelized Onions to a lighter menu choice.
I was glad I did.
Chilled Seafood Salad of Shrimp, Scallops and Calamari over greens was lightly dressed with a Lemon Vinaigrette ($12), and the seafood was cooked correctly – they hadn’t overcooked it and so it wasn’t rubbery.
The food was good, the company delightful… now if they’d only get their wait staff to be more attentive…..
