Attending a lecture at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, we needed to find a nearby Upper West Side restaurant, which is how we ended up at Santa Fe, a cozy neighborhood Mexican food place with great margies (only $10.50); I started with one.
We took our servers advice when we ordered. I had the two enchiladas suizas ($21.50), one with chicken the other cheese, covered in two sauces – a red enchilada and a green salsa verde covered in fresh cream and accompanied by refried beans and rice. I opted not to include the enchilada photo as although I’d recommend this tasty entree, it’s not very photogenic. So I’m just including the rice and beans.
Don’t order the double thick grilled pork chop ($28) if you’re in a rush; it took 30 minute from the time we ordered until it was served (the waiter said we’d have it in 20!). That said, it was tender and flavorful especially from the sweet and spicy pepper jelly on it. It came accompanied by black beans and rice.
We had to rush to the lecture, so didn’t have time for dessert. If you’re in the neighborhood, I do recommend stopping by.
