The day-long festival is set to feature 40 restaurants and beverage providers coming from as far north as Puerto Morelos and as far south as Tulum. Returning again are Babe’s Noodles and Bar, Zenzi Beach Club, Zabor, Diablito Cha Cha Cha, Los Aguachiles, Fusion and El Bistro at La Tortuga. Newcomers to the event include Akumal’s Lol Ha Restaurant and Turtle Bay Bakery; Playa del Carmen’s Casona de los Vinos, La Casa del Agua, Canibal Royal, Ula Gula, Carboncitos and Sapori di Casa.
Travel and Food Expert, Mark DeCarlo (host of the hit comedy/food show on the Travel Channel “Taste of America with Mark DeCarlo”) will team up with local chefs as the Taste of Playa as the celebrity host. Throughout the day, Mark will be conducting a series of food demonstrations with local chefs highlighting the unique recipes of the Mexican Caribbean, signing copies of his new book and sampling dishes from over 40 participating restaurants.
Chefs from Wicky’s Restaurant and Beach Club will entertain special guests, VIP pass-holders and corporate sponsors in the VIP lounge. Off the Vine, the Dirty Martini Lounge and the Tequila Barrel will provide signature cocktails and other beverages.
Taste of Playa is a community-oriented culinary event that celebrates the creativity and diverse cultural influences of chefs throughout the Riviera Maya. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $1 each for “Taste of Playa Pesos,” individual sampling tokens or a VIP pass for $35. Proceeds from the event will go to a food education program initiated by the Rotary Club in Playa del Carmen that will directly benefit the children and families of the Riviera Maya.
