Philip Marie  just introduced a new fall menu of bar bites ($7 each) along with some specialty cocktails ($12) that I was invited to sample. Philip Marie is an inviting, warm neighborhood place, with friendly service in the West Village on Hudson Street.

I preferred a glass of Sancerre ($13) to their new cranapple martini ($12), as it was too sweet for my palate. And I couldn’t discern the purported flavor of the cinnamon-infused vodka.

As for bar bites, try the satay with a peanut sauce with either beef or chicken. They skewer the meat, grill it and serve with a peanut sauce that I thought needed a bit more kick, but then I’m a spicy food lover.

Do try the three flash-fried panko-coated eggs, topped with three different sauces – a bleu cheese, tomato chipotle and avocado pesto. I didn’t like the texture of the minced beef in the short rib purse, but did like the flavor when eaten with the olive tapanade.

Also check their website for the specials offered many nights. Although we didn’t try it, the restaurant was offering a Tuesday night clambake ($19.95) that looked mighty good.
