I was invited to dine at Moran’s Chelsea, a landmark restaurant directly across from the Highline on Tenth Avenue, close to Chelsea Piers and Chelsea Market and stopped by on a cold Sunday in late spring. Loved the warmth radiating from the large window and from the fireplace in the small room where I was seated. A cozy setting for sure.

We started with a peach bellini ($9.50) and their bloody Mary ($10.50) heated with lots of fresh horseradish.

Their hearty huevos rancheros ($14) consists overlapping tortillas, Jack cheese, black beans, salsa and poached (as I requested) eggs, all topped with fresh guac. Excellent, I highly recommend.

My dining partner also had guacamole on her eggs – a Spanish omelet filled with cheddar cheese, tomatoes and black beans. Her entree came served with breakfast potatoes and mini breakfast pastries (a tasty muffin and croissant).

Although the fried ice cream sounded enticing, we chose the house-made oozing warm chocolate lava cake ($9) with chocolate Haagen Dazs ice cream ($2). Worth every calorie.

I do recommend Moran’s for brunch if you’re in the area.
