My life has seemed like a birthday or Xmas weekly for the past 30 years!
What I mean is, when manufacturers or their public relations companies send food editors samples — they often include gifts, hoping to entice us to write about what they send. Most of the time their tchotchkes have the company’s name or logo on it, so that that you’d never…ever… use it.
This time was an exception. Not only would I use what came with the delivery of Starbuck’s new ice cream flavors, but I love it so much I wanted to write a FeaturedBite about it — but not in this economy as it costs about $50 retail for the pint size one.
(Understand now why your Starbucks is so expensive?)
Since I find this sand-cast, shiny, attractive ice cream holder (replete with an adorable scoop) such an elegant way to serve ice cream, I decided to instead write this TidBite about it as it would be a nice gift (to you or someone else), one that makes it quite elegant to serve pint ice cream at your china-and-crystal set table.
The pint size is $49.99, the half gallon size, $109.99 at Lunareshome.com, or less at amazon.com
Dear Bite of the best,
Thankyou for the fantastic shout out on the pint ice cream container that I designed years ago.It continues to be a topselling item for my company and I love to see peoples eye light up when they realise its ice cream under the lid.Glad you love it.Enjoy!!
Nima, Please share with us your story about how you ended up designing this elegant holder for ice cream. What made you think of it? Do tell!!
Dear Bonnie,I grew up with a mother who was an incredible cook. Her meals were prepared with a lot of care and love and who thought having store brand containers at the table was not the most stylish thing-always to take the time to serve condiments in little bowls etc.Presentation was as important as the food.Fast forward to the modern lifestyle where we dont have so much time to ladle things out before serving but style must never be sacrificied! One of my favorite desserts to serve at an impromptu dinner party is store bought pie and ice cream. But did not have the time or inclination to serve the ice cream in little bowls before bringing to the table.Hence the concept of the ice cream holder came about. And the delight shows in the guests faces when the ice cream and pie come to the table and the lid is removed off the icecream holder. We also have the quart size as well as the half gallon. The cost is a function of the fact that it is sand cast and hand made of a proprietry alloy very similar to aluminum. It has a beautiful high shine that will never tarnish, and your piece will never chip ,peel or crack. Also will go in the freezer though you dont want to store it in there.FYI,it’ll keep your icecream colder longer.
If you likethis, you will like our artists palette for serving cheese.
Enjoy!!
Ah, I’m so like your mom. I wouldn’t allow containers of any kind on my table while my kids were growing up – and I still don’t! (Other than when friends are testing a dozen or so ice cream samples!!) I guess that’s why I love your container. I can bring a pint of a quality ice cream (like this week’s FeaturedBite Häagen-Dazs Five: Mint) to the table in an attractive container. I’ll check our your site for your artists palate for cheese!
Nice job on the ice cream container!
