I’ve been collecting cookbooks since I was a teenager. I didn’t cook from them as much as read them to learn about food and principles of cooking. I read cookbooks, like others read novels.
When my collection increased to over 12,000 volumes, I started donating books to a local university’s hospitality and dietetic departments.
Earlier this month, the University of New Haven honored me with a reception as they posted a plaque by the library that I donated. For the occasion, the student prepared a sumptious and impressive presentation of foods and libation.
