We were interviewing a potential new New York Ex-Expats group member who was meeting a friend at Sagaponack for $1 oysters and bubbly during their happy hour. I was unfamiliar with the restaurant, even though it was in my hood. I had to try it.
You might recognize the name as an affluent town in the Hamptons, a fact that came up while playing a trivia game about the Big Apple.
I recently met friends there to sample their fare. Love that their I-495 happy hour runs from 11:30 am until 6:30 with a tagline, “Drink, but don’t drive through the I-495!”
From those offerings, I partook in a $5 glass happy hour Sauvignon blanc Mas la Chevalière, France, and we shared the Parmesan fried ($7) with spicy mayo, ketchup and charred scallion aioli.
One English friend enjoyed their hearty fish and chips ($16). Another ate the lobster roll ($32), and I the crab roll ($19), with more of the buttered top-loading hotdog roll than the crustacean. We were still happy, enjoying each other’s company.
I recommend stopping in for happy hour.
