Mory’s in New Haven Reopened

After being closed for over 20 months, the storied Mory’s Association, a fixture in the New Haven community for over 150 years, re-opened its premises at 306 York Street in August. Mory's has a long and distinguished history since its founding in the mid-1800's; it is still a membership-only dining establishment. Mory's  hosted a ribbon cutting event this month, attended by  members of the Yale and New Haven communities, including leaders in government, education, business and cultural affairs, which included Mayor John DeStefano. “Art of Farming” Gallery Talks at Sotheby’s

Curious Chef collection

When I picture the youth of tomorrow, the image that pops in my mind is that of a 5-year old with a blue-tooth headset, an IPhone on their lap and an Xbox controller in their hands. Midland Farms is voluntarily recalling milk products due to the potential of improper pasteurization. Proper pasteurization heats milk in order to eliminate all pathogenic bacteria, such as Listeria and Salmonella. Where: New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island. Female Chefs Help Fight Cancer at SHARE Event

More than two dozen of NYC’s top female chefs will serve savory and sweet signature dishes at the Seventh Annual “A Second Helping of Life” on Monday, September 20, 7 p.m., at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers. Check Your Eggs: Many Recalled on Salmonella Concerns

Check your egg cartons as the Associated Press estimates 228 million eggs are being recalled. The recalled eggs were sold under the following brands nationwide: Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph's, Boomsma's, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemps. The recall covers in-shell eggs in cartons containing six to 18 eggs, packed between May 16 and Aug. 13,  marked with plant numbers P-1026, P-1413 and P-1946. The eggs should not be consumed. Weaver’s Coffee & Tea Opens First Retail Store

Weaver’s Coffee & Tea recently announced the opening of its first Retail Store and Coffee Roasting Facility at at 40 Louise Street, San Rafael, California —  in front of their coffee roasting facility — where they serve and sell their full line of hand-crafted artisan coffees and teas. SFChefs 2010

SFChefs 2010 in being held at Union Square in San Francisco, today through August 15th, 2010 to celebrate the local flair and regional flavors of San Francisco. This food, wine and spirits event offers opportunities to interact with notable chefs, mixologists and culinary personalities. Participating chefs include Gary Danko, Tyler Florence and Thomas Keller, among others. SFChefs 2010 will support the Golden Gate Restaurant Association Scholarship Foundation, which grants financial scholarships to students from the Bay Area entering culinary and hospitality programs.
