New Haven (CT) Restaurant Week runs Sunday, April 6 through Friday, April 11, 2014, featuring a variety of restaurants and offering prix fixe menus. Participating restaurants will offer three-course prix fixe menus for both lunch and dinner, which include an appetizer, entrée and dessert. Lunch will cost $18, while the dinner menu will cost $32. MediaBistro reported that New Haven Advocate, 1975-2013 (New Haven Independent), "a weekly newspaper once known for a mix of gutsy investigative journalism, edgy political commentary, magazine-style feature writing, and savvy arts coverage, died Wednesday following a long illness. Walmart Steak-Over Challenge: Atlanta

On Saturday, April 20, local Atlanta firefighters Danny Pinto and Jeff Schultz compete in the Walmart Steak-Over Challenge to determine who has the best steak-grilling chops in town. Attendees will have the chance to join in the festivities, taste Walmart USDA Choice Premium steaks, sample Dr. Pepper and A.1. steak sauce, and cast their vote for best steak. We stopped for a bite at Brazi's on our way to opening night of Curse of the Starving Glass, a work by the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard (who I met ... and school-girl swooned over... at the Kentucky Derby years ago!) and directed by Gordon Edelstein.
