Bubby’s latest outpost at the corner of Gansevoort and Washington Streets is a perfect — but pricey — place to stop in for brunch when wandering around the Meatpacking District or walking High Line.

I started with the Bubby bloody (AKA bloody Mary, $14), a decent drink in need of heat, even though I had requested it spicy.

Not realizing the hearty portions Bubby’s served, we ordered way too much food, That, and we couldn’t resist an order of their freshly made, oh-so-flaky biscuit after seeing them pass our table. I later learned that the flakiness is from the house-rendered lard used!  The two ($6) came with organic butter and homemade peach jam. Almost a meal in themselves along with an iced latte ($5).

For my Huevos Rancheros ($18) I asked for over-easy eggs, which were served on the hand-pressed corn-tortillas covered in a could-be-spicier salsa and topped with pickled jalapeño slices, accompanied by black beans and green rice. My dining companion had a huge platter of smoked salmon Benedict ($24) with fresh sauteed spinach on English muffin halves, topped with the salmon and poached eggs. That also came with a large serving of home fries.
