Bubba & Gianni, chef Jean-Stephane Poinard’s newest restaurant, opened in “the hammock'” of Palm Coast, FL midway between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach. The restaurant is a culinary marriage of The South with a dash of Italian. The menu features southern favorites like fried green tomatoes, slow-smoked brisket, fresh vegetables, plenty of seafood, hoe pie and mean low-country boil, in addition to seasonal freshly made pastas, antipasti and home-style Italian specialties.
Last month, the restaurant won first place in the appetizer category for their smoked pulled pork egg rolls with Datil dipping sauce at the 4th Annual St. Augustine Datil Pepper Festival at the County Fair.

Heard some nice things about the restaurant from a few different people so my co-workers and I decided to try it out. Little did I know I was in for an AWFUL lunch topped off with even worse service!! Ordered the Eggplant Parm Pannini w/ french fries. When it arrived the pannini bread was burned and the sandwhich was the dryest thing ever! Requested some sauce on the side to try and salvage the awful sandwhich. The sauce did not help since the “eggplant parm” was paper thin and all I tasted was the burned bread. Took the sandwhich apart to see that their “eggplant parm” was basically a thin strip of breading. Waitress noticed there was an issue with the sandwhich and told me she would SHOW the sandwhich to the chef – did not offer to take the meal off my bill since I did not even eat it! Basically I paid $10.50 for a soda since I left without eating! If this restaurant wants to stay in business they better learn some customer service!
We had heard of Bubba and Gianni’s from our friends in the area. We tried the place out last week and we are glad we did. The meal was fantastic! The kids loved the smoked pork egg rolls and fish sticks. My wife and I had the catfish sandwich and lasagna. All the meals were fantastic and we will be going back to eat there again soon. The staff was very friendly. Our compliments to the Chef – he has a winning restaurant along A1A.
