We met for drinks, planning to have a light dinner, at the Frying Pan, the former Lackawanna railroad barge docked in the Hudson River at 26th Street. When the temperature dropped to where we were shivering, we left looking for a nearby place to warm up and have some apps.  That’s how we ended up at Bocca di Bacco.

Their smoky Morso di Bacco continued our spicy cocktails consumption this day, with a blend of  Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila with Triple Sec, passion fruit puree, lime juice and simple syrup ($15). It as good, but not as delicious as the Calandria at Hotel Americano.

The involtini di melanzane e ricotta ($12) used bufala ricotta between the eggplant layers with a sauce seasoned with mint. Nice, as was the grilled octopus ($18) and the taste of four cheeses ($17) served with honey and fig jam. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it satiated us.
