Birds & Bubbles, Lower East Side, NYC, revisited

I won a gift certificate to Birds & Bubbles, so decided to return for brunch on Sunday as I enjoyed it so much the first time.

Liking the bloody Mary, I started with that blend of cucumber vodka, housemade mix and pickles ($14). Sadly it wasn’t as good as during my last visit — but the raspberry and bubbles made up for that ($14).

First thing we ordered were the crispy potatoes. These fried spud chunks topped with a shallot mayo, capers and herbs are sinfully addicting (49), Be sure to enjoy them while they are hot from the oven. A couple of the chicken tenders were left in the fryer a tad too long; dipped in the sweet mustard, we still ate them all. I’d recommend the chicken, egg and biscuit sandwich ($13) with a large piece of fried chicken topped with a egg deviled and pickles. A hearty breakfast, indeed…best to be shared.
