If you have plans to go to the Cape, keep the Beachcomber mind for next summer, as it’s the ultimate place for a good time — only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
We arrived at the Cape on a Friday afternoon in early September, itching for an entertaining way to start our long weekend after the long drive. We stopped in a couple of places with no atmosphere all, and whispered to the hostess asking where we might find a lively place. She suggested a drive to Wellfleet to this shack like place on the beach. We were so glad we did.
You don’t go to the Beachcomber for fabulous food or great service. It’s just pure fun with live music and water views. Both the bar, restaurant and outside areas are packed with friendly folks of all ages.
After chatting with a group who had just demolished a huge plate of nachos, we decided to share a some. Were the piled high nachos ($13.99) with a side of guacamole ($1.99) that good — or were we just hungry from the salt air? Whatever, I’d highly recommend a trip to the Beachcomber next summer when it re-opens.
