SFChefs 2010

SFChefs 2010 in being held at Union Square in San Francisco, today through August 15th, 2010 to celebrate the local flair and regional flavors of San Francisco. This food, wine and spirits event offers opportunities to interact with notable chefs, mixologists and culinary personalities. Participating chefs include Gary Danko, Tyler Florence and Thomas Keller, among others. SFChefs 2010 will support the Golden Gate Restaurant Association Scholarship Foundation, which grants financial scholarships to students from the Bay Area entering culinary and hospitality programs. The Newport Winefest

The Newport Winefest, a celebration of New England’s culinary culture,  takes place on the water at the picturesque Newport Yachting Center in Rhode Island, August 20-22, 2010. New Haven Food & Wine Festival 2010

New Menu at Chelsea’s Juliet

Juliet Kitchen & Grill opened recently as a restaurant within Juliet Supperclub, a late night hot spot in West Chelsea. Executive Chef Mario Tolentino, a recent winner of Food Network's "Chopped" series from this current season, created the menu inspired by international and ethnic street foods from around the globe. Dinners at the Farm in Connecticut

Dinners at the Farm — now in its fourth year — is an open-air celebration of Connecticut's farms, food, and community. For twelve nights in August, River Tavern (Chester, CT) chefs will prepare a multi-course feast of Connecticut grown ingredients on two Connecticut farms, White Gate Farm in East Lyme and Barberry Hill Farm in Madison. The Copper Beech Inn Goes to the White House

Executive Chef Tyler Anderson of The Copper Beech Inn recently accepted an invitation from First Lady Michele Obama to travel to Washington and take part in the Chefs Move to Schools initiative, an opportunity for chefs around the country to adopt local schools to help solve the childhood obesity epidemic. Lower Eastside Girls Club Opens Celebrate Cafe

The Lower Eastside Girls Club announces the opening of Celebrate Cafe -  an entrepreneurial and job training program that employs local teenagers and young adults. Neighborhood moms and young women who go through their programs manage the cafe, and the servers are teenagers from one of their leadership and career training programs. Celebrate Cafe is open daily between 11AM-11PM serving pastries (from the Sweet Things Bake Shop on Avenue C), fair trade coffees and teas, grilled sandwiches, farmer’s market salads, freshly baked fruit pies, organic hot dogs, organic popcorn, and more.
