National S’more Day

Do You Want S’more? Jeez, who doesn't want S'more? What a truly delectable, delicious delight! The only unfortunate part about this amazing desert is that it has become so wrapped up with campfires, we forget that we can enjoy S'mores at almost any time of the year. So, it's time for some S'more appreciation! Well, I thought I was one my own with this one until I did some research. I was only kinda shocked to find that there is actually an official day for such appreciation (I say 'kinda' only because everything has its own day nowadays). National S’mores Day took place on August 10th, 2010. So, I guess, [...]

HOTMAN Pot Holder

Hotman is a delightfully designed little dude for your kitchen. The adorable (though a little creepy) Hotman lays on your countertops, protecting your kitchen surfaces from damage from hot pots, pans and plates. Don't use your kitchen for cooking? More of a design first, functionality second kinda person. Heck, even without a hot pot in sight, Hotman is certain to impress in your kitchen. When not acting in it's first duty of "kitchen utensil", Hotman plays "objet d'art", bringing an edgy design presence to any cooktop. This funky little gadget is sure to catch anyone's eye! Hotman's little frame is made from finished steel; super sturdy, it really adds a [...]

Philly Turkeysteak…

I spent my college years in Philadelphia. The town is renowned for it's great food, from gourmet dining to the greatest selection of street food carts I've ever come across. I have to say though, despite it being available, 'healthy' is one of the last words I'd naturally associate to Philly food. My experience was one of fatty delights in my time; Philadelphia did rank amongst the nation's fattest towns then. Favorites included cheesesteaks, chicken cheesesteaks w/ mayo, enormous pizza slices, meatball subs slathered in cheese, and the coup de grace... scrapple, an assortment of pig leavins from a flattop grill, formed into a brick and deep-fried. You can gain [...]

Deli, go home..

It's funny how we think of the stuff we eat. The way we classify many foods in the U.S. is by its supposed ethnic background, it's even ingrained in the way we dine. Think about it, what are you in the mood for? French, Italian, Greek, Indian... we see a dish, we catalog its ingredients, and we assign a country of origin to it. What is funniest about this to me is that the foods we often associate with foreign countries are really more about America than anywhere else. Still, the most ordered Indian dish at restaurants is chicken tikka masala, a British dish in actuality, more inspired by Londoners [...]

Shopping Nanny

I don't exactly know how I feel about this company yet, but I thought I would share it with our Bite of the Best readers and see what you think! I can't think of anyone that's not interested in saving time and money, so I thought that I'd at least bring this new service to your attention. While everyone wants to save money at the grocery store, clipping coupons can be a real hassle. Sometimes I think that the time I might spend combing the grocery mailers for deals is just not worth the 50 cents I'll save from the fruits of my labor. It can be a truly daunting, [...]

Besh’s Best – Lüke New Orleans

It was my first time in New Orleans, a town I'd been repeatedly told that I just HAD to visit since I moved to Atlanta a few years back. Heck, who am I to argue? Those who know me well can stop laughing now...Not only was I informed of the 'enchanting' nature of 'Nawlins (as I've been told to pronounce it), but I was almost browbeaten with how AMAZING the food is. New Orleans is one of America's first true 'melting pot' cities; where French, Spanish, Caribbean and 'American' cuisines have collided, creating a truly unique food culture. I was excited to say the least. Though the NOLA Jazzfest was [...]
