After a long walk around the city, we stopped in at Obicà Mozzarella Bar Pizza e Cucina near the Flatiron building for a bite to eat on the street. This was the second restaurant I dined at where we were sitting almost on top of the subway grates — the other being when at Olio e Più, in the West Village. Something I’m getting used to dining on the streets of New York.
We started with their over-priced roasted asparagus with Parmigiano Reggiano ($9). I say that only after we received the seven small asparagus on the plate. We laughed at the small serving!
At least the pizza ($23) was a fairly regular-sized one, although oblong to fit their plates. It came with buffalo mozzarella, tomato sauce and fresh arugula topped with lots of slices of Proscuitto di Parma. Their delicious dough, prepared with stone-ground Italian flour, rises slowly for at least 48 hrs. Worth the calories.
We washed all that down with a bottle of Rosso IGT 2015 Sangiovese, Bibi Graetz ($58).
I’d recommend a visit if in the Union Square or Madison Park area.
