LS Social is a fairly new neighborhood cozy and casual cocktail bar on 17th Street near Union Square. I chose it to meet a new friend for a drink because it was close to home, as I had an upcoming Zoom board meeting to attend.

I was early, the first customer that day, so I began chatting with Ron, the owner, who opened this—his first restaurant about two years ago—and Michael, the bartender.

I liked their flavorful white Negroni made with gin, Lillet blanc and vermouth blanc, as the New Amsterdam gin was not juniper-forward, giving a smooth taste to the cocktail.  My friend first sampled their Sturm Collio Pinot Grigio, Fiuti-Venezia Giulia ($8), followed by a margarita ($8) while we nibbled on some offerings. In addition, I photographed some of our barmates’ food, some from the regular menu, to share with you.

I recommend three tacos for $15 from the happy hour menu. We sampled the tender fish ones with sriracha aioli, topped with carrot and cabbage slaw on small soft flour tortillas, and our new friends, the shrimp in a gochujang marinade with cilantro, chili aioli, and kimchi slaw.

We also sampled their very garlicky fries ($8).

And, we sampled their housemade guacamole with pico de gallo and homemade corn chips ($17) and our neighbor’s nachos with homemade corn tortilla chips, cheese fondu, avocado, grilled pineapple, pico de gallo ($14) topped with chicken (+$4).
