Sempre Oggi is a new Italian restaurant on the Upper West Side with a well-trained service staff. We met for a leisurely dinner at this restaurant, whose name loosely translated means “Always Today.” They interpret that as embracing the very best of right now.

This staff warmly welcomed me as I arrived at the hostess stand. That cordiality continued as I walked through the dining room and was seated at my table, with the service staff making eye contact and greeting me as I passed.

I recommend their spin on an Aperol spritz that they did by adding select aperitivi ($15). The martini ($22) was also good.

Sempre Oggi lists their farm vendors on the menu. That includes Row 7’s organic Badger Flame beets from the eponymous upstate farm.

Don’t miss these sweet roots covered in a rich, creamy sauce made from chopped pistachios. That creaminess is from pistachio milk with the chopped nuts ($22). We tried to scoop up every drop of the sauce with a spoon before we let them clear the plate. Yes, that good.

We ordered the Cotes de Provence, Sainte-Magdeliene 2022 ($78) rose to accompany our selections. A good choice.

We then shared their too al dente, grated pecorino calabrese-topped orecchiette ($26) with braised Lancaster Farm’s dandelion greens and Carnaroli rice ($28) with locale corn.

I recommend their tender, humanely raised Green Circle Farm’s Heritage chicken in a green, flavorful salsa ($38). We also enjoyed sautèed escarole ($12) with it.

I recommend a visit.
