Recommended in the Michelin Guide, Dvor opened in 2013. We sat outside on the terrace with a spectacular view of the Adriatic sea and Croatian islands beyond while being serenaded by a guitarist across the patio singing American songs.
We all decided to have their five-course tasting menu (470 Kuna, ~$73.50) and ordered a bottle of white and red to accompany.
Our first amazingly unusual dish — “Canelon” tuna with goose liver— was the favorite of the evening. Goose liver ganache wrapped in fresh tuna garnished with purple onion gel, pea gel, Jerusalem artichoke gel, black olive dust and Aceto Balsamico pearls. Fantastic.
The smoked sea risotto was a runner-up for our favorite. We had been instructed to first blend the dollop of caramelized cheese “ice cream” into the bowl of risotto filled with fresh and smoked shrimp and smoked mussels. We wanted to lick the plate, instead, we asked for bread to sop up the last drops of the delicious tomatoey sauce.
The Adriatic “spaghettini” was strips of calamari in a black squid ink white wine sauce in a pool of polenta. The three herb-topped grilled lamb chops were our final entrée served with roasted potatoes and garlic cloves plus a dollop of carrot and rosemary cream.
The crisp and crunchy cannoli filled with a blend of ricotta and mascarpone drizzled with dark chocolate and in a puddle of salted caramel ended our fabulous meal.
I’d highly recommend a visit if you’re in Split!
