Burger & Lobster is a simple concept that is working. The restaurant offers only two items, for one price, $20.

The 19th Street Flatiron location is this company’s first American outpost of this simple idea that originated in London. The cavernous space on two levels with so much room between rows allows conversation without straining to hear.

If you head to the lower level you’ll see the “lobster condo,” holding up to 4,000 lobsters. If you’re really hungry, you can order one of the larger 3 to 15-pound ones that are priced at the current market price ($20 when this post was written).

There’s a choice of cocktails, beers or wine by the glass, plus an interesting “reserve” wine list with bottles up to the $560 for Taittinger. After all, champagne and lobster are a perfect marriage.

After ordering your drink, just decide how you’d like your burger or lobster. There are no apps. Would you like the burger topped with bacon and/or cheese? The 1.5-pound lobster, grilled or steamed whole, or chunked with mayo on a fresh brioche bun?  Whichever you choose, it’s done right and served with a hearty serving of French fries and a small salad. It’s hard to mess up when doing so few things.

Oh, I almost forgot, there are some dessert offerings, currently priced at $8. But nothing worth the calories.
