BiteoftheBest bloggerBryan: : To steal my brother’s thunder; when you’re asked the question, would you like samples of a new Peanut Butter Banana ice-cream, the only acceptable answer is… does a bear sh*t in the woods? Sorry to those reading in the ‘lactose intolerant’ group or on Paleo or other fad diets, but the answer is always ‘yes’.

I’d never heard of peanut butter banana ice-cream before. In consideration, I feel like this was a flavor long in the waiting. How had we been so blind? Or had I missed something? A quick Google search did little to make me think I had been uninformed. This seems one of the first commercial iterations of this flavor. My mind was racing already. Would there be chunks of bananas? Would they be coated in peanut butter? Was there any chocolate rocking around? Anticipation for the delivery began to build. The pressure was building on Turkey Hill to deliver, both literally and figuratively.

Turkey Hill delivered, simple as that. My half-gallons emerged cold and ready from the smoky confines of their dry-ice container. To my excitement, five simple ingredients were displayed boldly on the container: cream, milk, sugar, banana, creamy peanut butter. That’s it, how glorious in a world of additives and flavorings. Just pure ice-cream. No chocolate I thought to myself (small frown), but let’s see what this is all about.

It doesn’t need the chocolate (though another version release wouldn’t hurt either ;). A rich ice-cream is wonderfully heightened with pureed banana, with just the perfect effect and flavor. Veins of frozen, creamy peanut butter run throughout, creating endless mine shaft opportunities for ice-cream diggers. Though hard at first, the PB melts in your mouth with each successive spoonful. A true winner.

Addictive.. scoop some out into a dish. Don’t eat from container or you’ll be surprised by how much disappears.

Eric (2 sunglasses)Eric: There are few things I eat that I consider staples in my diet; bananas and peanut butter are without a doubt two standout favorites. Whether I am dipping a banana into a peanut butter jar, or spreading peanut butter on whole wheat bread to than smother it with slices of banana, the combination of the two flavors is synonymous with my contentment.

When the All Natural Turkey Hill Banana Peanut Butter arrived on my doorstep, I think I passed out with anticipatory joy; I’m pretty certain I awoke to my wife, with a smile from ear-to-ear, scooping the ice cream into the blender to make an adaptation of one of her favorite desserts — the banana milkshake.

A few hours later I found myself wrist deep in the container searching for bite-after-bite of the “perfect bite”, a spoonful of the veined peanut butter with just the right amount of the banana ice cream- “It’s like there’s a party in my mouth, and everyone’s invited!”

If you’re an ice cream aficionado, do yourself a favor and stock-up on this new offering from Turkey Hill, you will not be disappointed.
