I had the extraordinary experience of attending Taste of the Nation this month. The event was held at the breathtaking ballroom of the Georgia Aquarium and showcased many of the city’s top culinary talents slinging their wares from their restaurant’s booths, in a trade show, buffet-style format. A carnival atmosphere prevailed as we meandered through the aromas and colors of the various foodie samplings flying in ever direction. This is an event that is not to be missed if you have the opportunity.
Since 1988, Taste of the Nation has brought together the most creative culinary minds from across the country; key figures of modern cuisine and national culinary celebrities including David Burke, Tom Collichio, Tyler Florence, Emeril Lagasse and thousands of other chefs have donated their time and talents at more than 45 events across the United States. The simple goal: to raise critical funds needed to help the more than 12 million children at risk of hunger in America everyday.
To date, Taste of the Nation has raised more than $70 million, which has been directly invested in organizations committed to ending childhood hunger as well as working toward sustainable solutions to underdevelopment and poverty all over the world. By the end of the year, more than 12 million children in America will worry about when their next meal will come and who have limited or uncertain access to the nutritious foods they need to properly develop. Food donation to local charities is something we at Bite of the Best have been doing for the last 20 years; an important contribution from our access to foods at a time when others are not so lucky. Please remember to give..
Taste of the Nation a wonderful event for a truly great cause. Shows run through August; check for festivities in you area on Taste of the Nation’s website.
