Pistachio nuts are being recalled for possible salmonella contamination.

According to the Food and Drug (FDA) administration, Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella — a California-based plant — is voluntarily recalling from distribution one million pounds of roasted pistachio products over salmonella concerns.

The FDA reported that Kraft Foods — one of about three dozen companies that purchase pistachios from Setton Farms — found salmonella strains during routine tests prompting the FDA to recall Kraft Back to Nature Nantucket Blend trail mix.

Kroger,  a grocery store chain in thirty one states, recalled Private Selection shelled pistachios from its retail stores because of possible salmonella contamination.

The FDA recommends that consumers avoid eating pistachio nuts or products containing pistachio nuts until further information is available. They recommend holding on to these products until it’s clear which ones are affected.

To date, no illnesses have been reported.
