On a sunny fall day shopping in SoHO, I met a friend who suggested we head to Jane’s — an American bistro — for a quick bite. We got a table in the front near the open windows so we could enjoy the last of the warm, yet slightly crisp fresh air. IMG-20111006-00593

The big pot of succulent mussels was perfectly cooked in a white wine and tomato broth with lots of fresh garden herbs ($16). That came with crispy fries.

Also good and over-sized is the Grilled Chicken Sandwich on ciabatta, topped with arugula, sliced tomatoes and  mozzarella then drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Also served with crispy shoestring fried ($14).

Worth the stop!
