What’s behind a successful event? A group of great women, naturally.

On September 19, Bite of the Best attended “A Second Helping of Life,” a fundraiser for SHARE, a “lifeline” that provides peer support to women fighting breast or ovarian cancer. More than two dozen of NYC’s female chefs cooked an array of savory and sweet dishes at this walk-around tasting with live and silent auctions. Each chef was paired with a “leading lady” from theater, television, publishing and the culinary arts.  As we table hopped tasting everything from Rebecca Charles’ decadent lobster roll and Anita Lo’s chilled avocado soup with unagi to Emily Isaac’s cookie dough truffles and Gina dePalma’s Sweet Olive Oil and Rosemary Cakes, we couldn’t help but marvel at the sharing spirit in the room.

We all have been touched by breast or ovarian cancer, as a fighter, a caregiver or a friend of a survivor.  The evening raised over $324,000 with an additional $33,450 being allocated to SHARE’s Ovarian Cancer Hotline. For more information visit:
