On one of those perfect summer days with the sun shining and a little chill in the air, we decided to sit outside on 44 & X’s patio before heading to theatre.

We each had an app from their seasonally inspired menu in the theatre district on the corner of Forty-fourth Street and Tenth Avenue and shared an entree. I enjoyed the large crab-filled blue claw fritter with a tomato tarragon sauce ($25).

My dining partner savored her hamachi sashimi with fresh blood oranges and sliced avocado in a blood orange syrup ($21).

We then shared the orange-dusted Maine lobster in a salad with braised artichokes, wilted leeks, roasted sweet corn, fava beans, asparagus and crispy shiitake mushrooms, all in a blood orange vinaigrette ($49).

Once we finished dinner and received the bill, we were ready to head out, but I fainted at the table, which changed our evening plans. Scott, the owner, was incredibly helpful. When you go, say hi and thanks from me.

I recommend a visit.
