Don’t miss the fabulous jazz brunch at The Fourth, the arty spacious restaurant inside the new Hyatt Union Square hotel. It’s that Union Square neighborhood Brasserie with the wooden white bedframes hanging from their cathedral ceiling.

I just discovered that The Fouth offered live jazz on Sunday during brunch. To start, we were served a small baguette and home made breakfast pastries, including a warm sugary round donut and an apricot ginger scone with fresh jam. I’d go back just for those baked goods.

Our first courses included an amazingly rich, flavorful hind-quarter duck confit with Dinosaur kale and caramelized bosc pears all in an apple pear balsamic dressing ($18). Their perfect seasoning becomes apparent as you put a forkful of all three components together into your mouth. Delicious.

With that we nibbled on a selection of cheddar, Parmigiana and Gorgonzola served on black slate, also with some chunk of honeycomb and fresh grapes.

Our main breakfast entree ($18) contained their red flannel hash (a light blend of finely diced beets, apples and potatoes) topped with two so slightly poached eggs that the runny yolk dressed the hash. We sopped that up with fresh sour dough bread slices.

I almost forgot — for the price of any breakfast entree, you can have either a belini or bloody Mary. A New York bargain for sure.

I highly recommend your next Sunday brunch here!
