Across the street from the 9/11 memorial is the newly opened Brookfield Place, NYC’s downtown new home of Institute of Culinary Education, Le District – a French marketplace and Hudson Eats, a dining terrace featuring fast-casual concepts from chef-driven eateries.  But we decided to pass those serve-yourself eateries and head to P.J. Clarke’s On the Hudson for both a view of the Hudson and friendly sit-down service.

I’d recommend either of the refreshing chopped salads that we had. One the 3rd Avenue jumbo shrimp chopped salad ($21.85) with radicchio and iceberg lettuce, celery, black olives, cucumber, red and yellow peppers, fennel, chicken peas, green beans and three large shrimp (two chopped and one butterflied on top) tossed with Cabernet vinaigrette. The chopped kale market salad contained all those veggies plus kale, asparagus, green peas, feta cheese and cherry tomatoes ($15.20).

A nice place to sit and dine, especially when the weather is nice enough for alfresco dining with a view of the Statue of Liberty.
