Chef Cyril Renaud opened La Quenelle on 254 Fifth Avenue, between 28th and 29th Streets in Manhattan’s Flatiron District. The restaurant offers a modern take on classic French cuisine.
Fueled with new inspiration, Chef Renaud’s signature menu includes Goat Cheese and Artichoke Ravioli with American Paddlefish Caviar, Beet and Mustard Reduction, in which the tang of the goat cheese and saltiness of the caviar are mellowed by the sweetness of the beets; La Quenelle de Brochet with Seafood Risotto and Lobster Foam, a rich mélange of pike and lobster, offset by root vegetable risotto; and Slow Cooked Duck Breast with Compote of Red Plum and Onion/Port Wine Jus, a tender presentation of duck. Other dishes range from Maine Lobster, Truffle Mayonnaise, Apple Cider and Vanilla Reduction, Asian Pear; Fingerling Crusted Wild Striped Bass, Roasted Artichoke and Chanterelle; and Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake with Tarragon Ice Cream.
Specials include a $75 five-course dinner and $29 pre-fixe lunch. The wine list has been designed to complete each dish. Tasting menus are available at both lunch and dinner.
La Quenelle (www.laquenellenyc.com) is open Monday through Friday 11:30 am-10:30 pm; Saturday and Sunday: 10:30 am-10:30 pm. A brunch menu is served from 10:30 am-4:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Call (212) 213-4999 for reservations.
