I stopped by the opening party of Dominique Bistro as I was on my way to see Lost Girls at the Lucille Lortel theatre a few blocks further west on Christopher Street. It’s a well-acted drama about relationships and history repeating itself. Worth seeing.

Located at the intersection of Christopher and Gay Street, Dominique bistro  brings a touch of Paris to the West Village. Head chef and namesake Dominick Pepe curated the delectable menu to showcase French food. (He’s also head chef at  Olio e Piu, around the corner.)

We only had time for a glass or two of wine (I had the Torrebruna – Sangiovese, Tuscany, Italy)… and to sample a few appetizers.  We tried the cheese board (sottocenere, brebiirousse D’Argental, Fourme d’ Ambert), their chicken liver mousse and their pear salad (baby arugula, poached pears, aged gorgonzola, candied walnuts) before we headed out to the curtain time.

What we sampled whet my appetite and so I’m planning to go back and try a full meal. I’ll be reporting back on that.

Stay tuned.
